Myojo offers both sports massage techniques and relaxation massages. We offer 30 minute and 60 minute appointments for both sports massage and relaxation massage.
Your initial appointment begins with a consultation and a review of your health history. We will look at your posture, discuss your goals or active injuries and then perform simple muscle or joint tests. The remaining time is for hands-on treatment tailored to our findings. We will starts any further treatment sessions with a quick discussion to understand if anything has changed and to confirm what you would like to focus on in the session.
Absolutely not! While sports massage is designed to address muscle imbalance and support performance and recovery, it can be equally beneficial for anyone experiencing everyday aches and pains.
While some techniques targeting tight muscles such as "trigger points" can feel momentarily intense or uncomfortable we will always work within your personal pain threshold. You can request a change in pressure at any point during your appointment. It is normal to experience mild soreness or tenderness for 24 to 48 hours following a sports massage.
For high-intensity training or injury recovery, weekly or bi-weekly sessions can be highly effective. For general maintenance a session every 4 to 6 weeks works well to keep your body moving nicely.
Pre-event sessions should be 3 to 5 days before your event. This allows time for your muscles to settle and ensures you don't compete with any temporary post-massage soreness. For post-event, a light recovery massage is a great idea 24-48 hours after the event to help flush metabolic waste and soothe your tired muscles.
